Biography

Carsten Reichel is a partner at DLA Piper in Washington, DC and a former federal prosecutor with the US Department of Justice (DOJ). In nearly 15 years with DOJ, Carsten investigated and prosecuted corporations for complex white-collar crimes, including price-fixing and fraud, across a wide range of industrial sectors. He has negotiated numerous corporate criminal resolutions and extensively litigated issues related to corporate criminal penalties. Carsten negotiated and for three years worked closely with the first-ever corporate compliance monitor imposed pursuant to a plea agreement with the DOJ’s Antitrust Division. He also worked extensively with numerous corporate applicants to the Antitrust Division's Leniency Program, which encourages self-reporting of possible criminal violations.

In private practice, Carsten represents corporations and individuals in government investigations and civil litigation, and he counsels clients on a variety of business decisions, including in the development of robust compliance programs to navigate and mitigate antitrust risks.
