Dean Bates serves as the primary academic liaison to the adjunct faculty. In this capacity, he reports to the Vice Dean and oversees a range of administrative and operational functions essential to the delivery of the academic program, including serving as the primary point of contact for adjunct faculty, coordinating academic scheduling and supporting curricular updates, managing key aspects of exam administration, and collaborating on new academic initiatives and program development.

Representative Professional Activities and Achievements
Dean Bates joined William & Mary Law School from Yale University, where he served as Director of Faculty Affairs for the School of Nursing. Prior to his time at Yale, he worked at Thomas Jefferson University as the Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs for the health sciences colleges and held numerous administrative and faculty roles at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy, serving as the Executive Director for Postgraduate Programs and holding the rank of Assistant Professor.
