Dean Howerton joined the Law School Advancement team in 2015 as Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Affairs and later became Senior Assistant Dean. Her portfolio of responsibilities includes: serving as the chief fundraiser for the Law School and the Dean’s strategic partner while leading and managing a comprehensive advancement program, overseeing alumni engagement efforts and directing communications.
Representative Professional Activities and AchievementsA Virginia native, Dean Howerton began her career in institutional advancement at William & Mary during the Campaign for William & Mary (2000-2007). She served as the university’s Student and Alumni Coordinator and later as a Major Gifts Officer before joining the Law School. Carefully stewarding the completion of the For the Bold Campaign (2014-2020) for the Law School, she was named Associate Dean for Advancement in June 2020.
