The PELE Special Education Advocacy Clinic is grateful to Jeffrey Breit and the law firm of Breit, Drescher, & Imprevento, the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia, the Peninsula Autism Society, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, and Wrightslaw, all of whom provided grants to start the PELE Clinic in 2008-2009.
The PELE Clinic has launched a new project, Empowering Virginia’s Military Families in Special Education, designed to provide military families located in Virginia with legal support to address their special education matters. This project is funded by a generous grant from the Virginia Law Foundation. The Virginia Law Foundation promotes through philanthropy the rule of law, access to justice and law-related education.
The PELE Clinic actively works to raise its own funds through conferences, educational trainings, and donations. William & Mary Law School and Wrightslaw host a week long certificate program, the Institute for Special Education Advocacy. Nationally recognized speakers donate their time to train attorneys and advocates from all over the country in advanced advocacy. Additionally, the PELE Clinic provides training to military attorneys, paralegals, and support personnel to educate them on special education law. All proceeds go towards funding the PELE Clinic.
