This year, the seminar will focus on securities litigation and
enforcement proceedings. We will focus on some of the recurring
substantive issues, e.g., what is materiality?, what is causation?, who
is a "controlling person?" as well as procedural issues e.g. what is
the current pleading standard?, how do presumptions operate?, how do
class actions get settled? We will also look at the way in which the
SEC enforces the securities law through civil actions and
