Presidents Announce VCU – W&M Health Policy and Law Initiative
The presidents of William & Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University recently announced a signature collaboration to address health policy. The VCU - W&M Health Policy and Law Initiative will bring together faculty and students from a variety of disciplines from the two universities to conduct research, provide public service and offer joint degree programs that focus on solving topical problems in health policy, law and bioethics. George and Hardy Receive Fulbright Grants
Professors Glenn George and Trotter Hardy will lecture overseas in 2009 in China and Portugal, respectively, as part of the Fulbright Scholars Program. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and each year sends scholars and professionals to more than 140 nations. Read more.

Cadogan ’10 Named NAACP/Kellogg’s Law Fellow
As a NAACP/Kellogg's Fellow, Krystle I. Cadogan '10 will work on civil rights and legislative issues, spending a portion of her time at NAACP's Washington Bureau. Read more.

On the Calendar
For more than twenty years, the Institute of Bill of Rights Law has hosted the Supreme Court Preview conference, bringing together leading journalists, advocates and scholars to discuss and analyze the Court’s upcoming term. This year’s Preview on September 26 – 27 promises to be exciting and is approved for eight CLE credits in Virginia. More information.

In Memoriam
The Law School community was saddened by news of the death of Harold M. Gouldman Jr. ’37 in Warsaw, VA, on May 27, at 91. Mr. Gouldman’s obituary in The Free Lance Star noted that he considered “one of his most cherished accomplishments … his participation in successfully lobbying the Board of Visitors against the proposed closing of the School of Law in 1939.”
