Extension Cords & Electrical Outlets
To provide a safe environment for library patrons and staff and to prevent a fire and/or a tripping hazard, extension cords may not be run across the aisles of the library. Extension cords may be used at carrels and tables located against a wall if the cord can be safely run from a wall outlet without crossing an aisle. They must be must be heavy duty, grounded, and UL approved.
Do not use library outlets to power small appliances (such as space heaters or coffee pots) or other items that may present a hazard to the library collections.
