This page was created as a resource guide for online MLS and LLM students. This is a place to access frequently used library resources and find information on library services. Students are also able to use additional Wolf Law Library or W&M Libraries services not listed here. Additional help is available by contacting either Access Services or Reference Services via email, chat, or phone.
Catalog Access
Off-campus access: To access databases and e-Books from off-campus, remember you must follow a link from the library website or online catalog in order to be recognized as an authorized W&M user off-campus.
Exams and Study Aids
The library subscribes to several online study aid databases covering a breadth of legal topics, including antitrust law, bankruptcy, secured transactions, tax law, and more. You can find a list of those databases and brief explanation of what they cover on our resource page.

Here are some databases that may be of use to you in your studies. You can go to a list of all of the law school's databases listed by subject or alphabetically. You may also use any databases on the main campus libraries page.
Bloomberg Law
(individual login/password required)
Comprehensive collection of federal and state laws, regulations, court decisions, dockets, and business information. Analytical materials including BNA publications. Access restricted to current W&M Law students, staff, and faculty.
Bloomberg Law: Tax
(individual login/password required)
Tax analysis, practice tools, IRS documents, statutes & regulations, and current news and awareness. Covers federal, state, and international tax law. Also includes the Daily Tax Report, a newsletter that can be viewed online or subscribed to by email.
Business Source Complete
All disciplines of business, including marketing, management, accounting, finance, and economics. Journal articles, books, market research reports, financial data, conference proceedings, case studies, etc. Coverage: Varies by title.
Checkpoint (formerly RIA Checkpoint)
Comprehensive tax and accounting research database covering related laws and news on the international, federal, state and local levels. Provides access to a variety of primary sources, analysis, journals, news, and rulings. Coverage: Varies by source.
Lexis+

Extremely comprehensive collections of feature-rich databases of U.S. and state laws, regulations, cases, and analytical materials. Access restricted to current W&M Law students, staff, and faculty.
Westlaw Precision
(individual login/password required)
Extremely comprehensive collections of feature-rich databases of U.S. and state laws, regulations, cases, and analytical materials. Access restricted to current W&M Law students, staff, and faculty.
Newspapers
William & Mary Libraries provides free unlimited digital subscriptions to the New York Times (no games or sports), Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and The Atlantic. Please follow their instructions for each newspaper for instructions on how to set-up your accounts and take advantage of these resources. There is also database access to historical and current collections of local and national newspapers including the LA Times, Virginian-Pilot, Richmond Times-Dispatch, and more.
Reference Services
There are many ways to reach the research and instructional librarians for in-person or remote assistance. You can email the Reference department any time at wolflibref@wm.edu or reach out to individual librarians. Also, you can chat with a librarian during regular Reference hours or give us a call at 757-221-3257. If you are on-campus, there is in-person assistance at the Reference Desk (staffed from 11am-7pm Monday-Thursday, 11am-5pm Friday, and 4-8pm Sunday) or in the Reference librarians' offices during regular Reference hours.
