ComisiĆ³n Provincial por la Memoria in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Already Reminiscing

Time is moving way too quickly, and I'm rapidly coming to the realization that I only have one week left in Argentina.

VAMOS ARGENTINA!

Argentina absolutely crushed the Copa America Final this weekend, and the ensuing celebration was one in a lifetime.

Stewing in Sickness and Food

Living in close quarters has been an amazing time, but we are now experiencing the downside (sickness). The combination of the suspended trial and illness has thrown a minor wrench in work with the CPM.

An Important Reminder

This week I continued to work on preparing for next week's trial. We said goodbye to the first person to leave, and it reminded me of one of the reasons why I want to do this work.

Preparing for Trial While Saying Goodbyes

From enjoying the national holidays to preparing for trial, this week has been whirlwind. Soccer continues to both divide and unite my home, but there is no time to waste as the semester is nearing its end and many friends are returning to their home countries.

Ley Bases Protests and Lots of Research

There's been a lot happening in Argentina and at work this week, which means I never experience a dull moment. Protests against the government have ramped up, and the CPM has even more work to do in order to ensure proper treatment by police and in prisons.

A Not-So-Universal Desire to Condemn

Diving deeper into the impacts of the dictatorship, current public policy, and police mechanisms has given me a lot of insight into current political motivations and memory initiatives.

The Importance of Memory

The start of my time in Buenos Aires and with la ComisiĆ³n Provincial por la Memoria has been tremendously enlightening and wildly exciting.
