Machik

Week Eight: Educational Opportunities for Tibetans

As I reflect on week eight, I find it hard to believe that my time with Machik will be over soon! As one of my final projects, I put together a resource on international educational opportunities for Tibetan students.

Week Seven: Tibetan Food, Friends, and Global Taiwan Institute

In week seven of working with Machik, I got to try new Tibetan foods, pay a visit to the Global Taiwan Institute and the George Washington Elliott School of International Affairs, and make friends with Machik's newest and most important intern.

Week Six: More Adventures in Tibet and Around the City

For my sixth week with Machik, I continued my previous research, along with adding on the new topic of intergenerational healing in immigrant communities of color. I also visited the National Museum of African-American History and Culture.

Week Four: Exploring Tibetan Culture

During my fourth week with Machik, I continued my research while also exploring Tibetan culture in the form of Tibetan film, clothing, and a trip to the Library of Congress's Tibetan collection.

Week Two: Forging Connections Across Cultures

In my second week with Machik, I got to visit an exhibition on treaties at the National Museum of the American Indian and apply that framework to Tibet.

Introduction

Hi! I'm Gwyneth, and starting this June I will be interning with Machik, a non-profit focused on Tibet in Washington D.C. Follow along as I explore everything the city has to offer and help with Machik's important work.
