Welcome to our new Buswell Fellow

Over the summer, we bid farewell to Taylor Treece, CLCT's 2018-19 Buswell Fellow who accepted a position as Data Protection & Privacy Consultant at EY, and we're pleased to welcome Lindsey Whitlow as our 2019-2020 Buswell Fellow and Assistant Director for Research at CLCT. Under the guidance of CLCT's Director and the Associate Director for Research, the Buswell Fellow will serve as CLCT’s Assistant Director of Research and will conduct research in the field of Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and related technologies.

Lindsey performs grant-funded research on the legal issues arising from emerging technologies, with special focus on the interrelationship between the Internet of Things (IoT), privacy, and cybersecurity. Her primary areas of interest include intellectual property, cybersecurity—particularly in the corporate context—data privacy, and generally, law and technology. 

In addition to the research on the IoT, she develops continuing legal education programs on emerging technologies and supervises legal research projects for CLCT’s graduate fellows. She will assist in the formation of an interdisciplinary course on cybersecurity, and collaborates in creating workshops in conjunction with Mason School of Business Entrepreneurship Center.

Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Arts (summa cum laude) in Mass Communications, Business, and French from Louisiana State University. She continued her education to receive a Master of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management from the University of Central Florida. She then received her Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School. While at William & Mary, she was a member and associate editor of the William & Mary Business Law Review, President of the Graduate Council, and a member of the inauguration committee for William & Mary’s 28th President, Katherine Rowe.
