Applications for J.D. Program Surge by 26% Applications to the Law School's J.D. program increased by 26%. The Office of Admission received 6,287 applications for slightly more than 200 seats in the J.D. Class of 2013, breaking the previous record of 4,984 applications received last year. Applications to the Law School have increased by 48% since 2007. Click here for story. |

Law School to Welcome Three New Professors Professors Allison Orr Larsen, Nancy Leong, and Jason M. Chancellor O'Connor to Deliver Commencement Address on May 16; Will Also Receive Marshall-Wythe Medallion W&M Chancellor and retired U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor will give the commencement address at the Law School's graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 16. In addition, she will receive the Marshall-Wythe Medallion, the highest honor given by the Law School's faculty, at a dinner in her honor on Friday, May 14. Click here for story. |

Campus-wide "Do One Thing" Campaign Shows Small Steps by Individuals Can Lead to Big Strides in Sustainability Shunning bottled water and remembering to switch off the lights may not sound like great strides toward sustainability, but these are exactly the small personal changes that organizers had in mind when they launched the Do One Thing (DOT) Campaign at W&M. Law Students Help Residents Revitalize Their New Orleans Neighborhood Fourteen members of the Student Hurricane Network spent spring break in the Gert Town neighborhood of New Orleans helping residents revitalize an area damaged by Hurricane Katrina. E-Discovery and Data Seizures Class to be Offered at Law School This Summer As the world of computer-originated documents, e-mails, instant messaging, texts, and social networking sites continues to grow, lawyers are increasingly complaining of their lack of familiarity with electronic discovery and its criminal counterpart, data seizures. The Center for Legal and Court Technology (CLCT) is teaching E-Discovery and Data Seizures as part of its legal technology summer school and alumni are welcome to take the course. Except for the first week, E-Discovery and Data Seizures will be taught from 9:30-11:30 AM, Monday through Thursday, from June 1 - June 29. You can take the course with or without academic credit. CLCT is also offering classes on Internet Law, Privacy in a Technological Age, and Evidence. The cost for one course is $1,770; for two is $3,250.
