Professors Larry Palmer and Alemante Selassie Retire from Faculty
Professor
Palmer joined the faculty in 2008, following a three-decade career at
Cornell and the University of Louisville. A noted law and health policy
expert, he was the founding director of the VCU-W&M Health Policy

Professor Alemante Selassie shared his insights about law in the developing
world with both students and colleagues.

Professors Susan Grover and Laura Heymann Honored with Named Professorships
Susan
Grover is the first member of the law faculty to be honored by the
College as a University Professor for Teaching Excellence. This
three-year chair recognizes extraordinary commitment to students and to

College announced the selection of Laura Heymann as the Class of 2014
Professor, a three-year chair awarded to a tenured W&M faculty
member who “meets the College’s highest standards in teaching,

Constitutional Dilemmas: Professor Angela Banks on Arizona’s Immigration Legislation
On
April 11, a federal appeals court let stand a lower court decision
blocking parts of Arizona’s controversial immigration law from going
into effect. Lawyers for the state of Arizona have vowed to appeal the
ruling. In this video, Professor Banks discusses the constitutional arguments at issue.

Students’ Research Aids International Peacebuilding Efforts
Through work she does in post-conflict zones, Professor Christie Warren is able to afford students the chance to conduct research for academic credit. Students such as Jessica Jeanty '12, Pearl J. Kim '11, and Eve M. Grina '11 recently provided vital research help to members of Haiti’s justice system and to organizations such as the U.S. Institute of Peace and the U.N. Click here for story.

Kaufman & Canoles Awards Recognize First-Year Students for Legal Writing
The firm recognized three members of the first-year class for outstanding legal writing on April 22. Dustin H. DeVore '01, a partner at the firm’s Williamsburg office, presented the 2011 Kaufman & Canoles Writing Awards to Jarred O. Taylor '11, for first place, to Samuel G.
